Among the design lamps produced by Jérôme Peyronnet, a craftsman, several of them are produced using radiators from the 1930s. All have kept the period style: art deco or industrial. These lamps are unique pieces. Upcycling made in France.
Art Deco: how to create a 1930s style?
The art deco style is elegant, precious. It embodies a certain refinement.
This artistic movement was born in the 1910s before the First World War, took off in the 20s, before declining in the 1930s. It takes its name from the international exhibition of decorative arts of 1925. In memory collective, it recalls the universe of Gatsby the magnificent.
In the 10s, Art Deco made its appearance in opposition to the curved forms of the Art Nouveau style. This new movement is characterized by its structured and symmetrical lines, their classic and geometric shapes, their warm colors, including matte black and gold mainly.
The materials which symbolize Art Deco are: brass, glass, natural wood, marble. Many interior designers are reviving this movement today thanks to these noble materials.

How does Jérôme Peyronnet make a 1930 lamp?
Designer Jérôme Peyronnet makes these lamps with a contemporary design from old obsolete radiators, forgotten in the attic of our grandparents. It gives them a second life. This is called upcycling. This current refers to the action of recovering objects that we no longer have use in order to bring them to life differently. With upcycling, he upgrades these old radiators into beautiful high-end designer lamps. All are unique pieces, numbered and signed.
Every time he transforms an old radiator as a light, he spends a lot of time cleaning it, taking it apart, sanding it and painting it. Once in perfect condition, so that it becomes a lamp, he adds a lighting system (socket and bulb), as well as a new electric wire and a switch. What sublimate your interiors.
Living room, bedroom, office: how to choose your table lamp?
Before choosing your mood lamp, you need to define your lighting objectives:
- In which room do you want to put it? In what setting?
- Do you want to use these lamps as decorative items or do you need an accent lamp, a night light to read quietly in your bed, in your office or on your sofa?
- How do you want to direct your light sources, towards you, to the wall…?
Depending on your needs, you will find lamps of different sizes in our online store :
- A large lamp is able to illuminate your interior vividly, dynamically or even, like a diffuser, to project light effects on the walls.
- A small lamp can be placed on your bedside table or a coffee table. It can be orientable, or even articulated. Useful if it functions as a reading light.
What type of lighting to choose?
The majority of our luminaires are equipped with LED bulbs, low consumption (from 2 to 20 Watts). Several of them have an Edison LED bulb. With LED lighting, there is no heat release.
If you want to buy an ArtJL designer lamp for use as a desk lamp, we recommend that you use natural, clear, white light of around 3,300 to 5,000 Kelvin for optimal illumination. If that is not enough for you, you can choose a light intensity close to daylight (over 5,300 Kelvin).
If you want to use it as a bedside lamp or as a living room lamp, use warm lighting, for a soft light tending towards yellow (from 1000 to 5000 Kelvin). This will help you create a cozy, cocooning atmosphere.
